MIPS 2024: 6 Important Tips for Q4
With new changes and evolving requirements shaping how providers must approach their reporting strategies, 2024 has been a significant year for medical practices reporting to the Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS). From the introduction of MIPS Value Pathways (MVPs) to important updates on existing measures practices need to stay informed and proactive to ensure successful participation. This blog post provides a comprehensive overview of key MIPS 2024 reminders, including crucial deadlines, eligibility reviews, and the resources TRIARQ Health offers to support practices in achieving positive payment adjustments while avoiding penalties.
Q4 Tips for MIPS 2024 Success
2024 has been a pivotal year for practices reporting to MIPS, or the Merit-based Incentive Payment System. Some popular existing measures have been completely removed or modified, and a new reporting method, MVPs, has also entered the conversation. TRIARQ Health’s dedicated MIPS team encourages MIPS-reporting practices to stay vigilant and review MIPS 2024 reminders as we approach the end of the year:
- Register for MVP: For practices reporting to MVP (MIPS Value Pathways) in the 2024 performance year, registration is required by December 2, 2024. Practices reporting Traditional MIPS do not need to register. Register for your MVP now at cms.gov.
- Review Promoting Interoperability: The PI category reporting window was extended from 90 to 180 days in the 2024 performance year. Ensure your office continues performing PI measures and requirements until December 31. This category can be automatically reweighted for practices that have received the Small Practice Special Status. Review your eligibility on cms.gov to determine any special status awarded to your clinicians.
- Run Your Dashboards: You can easily review your MIPS 2024 Quality and PI dashboards in the QEMR. Take a look at your performance rate, review improvement areas with staff, and hone in on any adjustments between now and the end of the year to maximize your score. Need a refresher on workflows? QSuite customers can check out our MIPS 2024 quick guides in QCollege.
- Review MIPS Eligibility: Unsure if you need to report to MIPS for the 2024 year? Review your eligibility on cms.gov to determine reporting requirements and view any special status awarded to your clinicians.
- Know Your Resources: TRIARQ Health’s dedicated MIPS team is here to help you achieve the best possible outcomes for your MIPS participation. To ensure your practice receives a positive payment adjustment (and avoid the -9% penalty for 2024), TRIARQ Health QSuite customers should be sure to review our 2024 MIPS content in QCollege and reach out to your Client Success Manager or our Support team for additional questions. We’ve also added a variety of measures and MVP options for practices to support MIPS-reporting locations thoroughly, and we’re excited to add even more in 2025.
- Stay Tuned on New Measures in 2025: While the 2024 performance year comes to a close, TRIARQ Health's team has been hard at work creating workflows and updates to support MIPS-reporting practices further. We are adding new measures and MVP options to support even more practices and specialties, including gastroenterology, urology, surgical care, musculoskeletal care, and more.
